Scott calls for an end to dumping

Recently there have been several incidences of dumping beside the recycling bins in Greystones, notably on Mill Road and South Beach Car Park.

Greystones Green Party Councillor Lourda Scott has been following up with the Council to try and put an end to it. Speaking on the matter Scott said . "I was contacted in July  about a heap of rubbish being left by the recycling bins just opposite the Municipal Offices in the South Beach Car Park. It was a big mess that was there for over a week before I cleaned it myself as part of our monthly beach clean. Unfortuantly this wasn't a one off and very quickly more items were dumped there as well as at the recycling bins at Aldi on Mill Road. Apart from looking unsightly, rubbish is being spread around the area and into the sea as well as attracting rodents. I have been in contact with the Council to see what can be done about this and they are looking into solutions. Until something can be done I am urging people not to dump rubbish beside these bins. There is really no excuse for this. The recycling bins are very well used facilities and we don't want to have to remove them because of the poor behaviour of a few people"
